"In July 2005, a group of four friends went to Iceland on a trekking trip. Only four returned. This is their story." - quote from Samir's website, where you can find more information on our trek. The four is: Gip (me), Aztek, Fraggy and Samir. It was our first proper trekking experience but we did make it back. It would be impossible to describe just with words the places we saw, but there's photos, too (which I took with a Fuji Finepix S7000). The photos I'm putting online are exactly as they came out (no cropping, no level adjusting...), apart from the panorama ones which I joined using PhotoStitch. They have been named so they appear in chronological order, with panoramas at the bottom. I've renamed only a few of them, for the others you should be able to tell what they show by reading the diary. THE HUTS:

When you get to the hut, you hand in your voucher to the warden, who are always very friendly and helpful, and you're then shown into the sleeping bag accomodation. Usually each bed is for two people, but if the hut is somewhat empty you get more space. There's always a kitchen, too, with cooking equipment/facilities (we never found sieves though except in Landmannalaugar), and WC/latrine. There's also people with tents who stay just outside the huts. In most huts you could leave garbage, but in a couple you had to take it with you.
